Deauville: A luxurious destination

Located just two and a half hours from the capital, the city is considered one of the most prestigious in France and is nicknamed the "21st arrondissement of Paris" because Parisians love to stay there. It is also connected to Trouville-sur-Mer by a bridge.

One cannot introduce Deauville without mentioning its grand beach, bordered by a legendary 1920s promenade—the Planches—and its 450 beach huts, near which you can spot the names of many directors. On the sand, 450 colorful umbrellas also make this place memorable and welcoming. Not far from there, you can also find an Olympic-sized saltwater pool, two ports, and numerous shops and places for leisure and relaxation. Deauville is, above all, a city of pleasure!

Deauville: Renowned events

When it comes to events, one cannot talk about Deauville without mentioning its famous American Film Festival, which will celebrate its 46th edition this year. It is scheduled for September 4th to 13th, 2020! More than 60 films will be presented at 3 different screening venues, and many celebrities are expected. Last year, for example, Catherine Deneuve and Johnny Depp were in attendance.

Are you spending New Year's Eve in Deauville? If so, you should know that a flagship and challenging event takes place every year on the grand beach: the January 1st polar plunge. It’s a great way to test the bravest among you! In 2019, nearly 500 bathers took on the challenge. In the following months, other events and competitions bring the seaside to life. In June, participants competing in the Deauville International Triathlon will pass by the beach. Then, throughout the summer, vacationers can attend beautiful polo matches on the sand. In November, for the 2nd edition of the inDeauville International Marathon, runners will finish the race on the Planches, facing the sea. Last year, there were about 6,000 of them!
