Are you hesitant to book your next mountain vacation because you're wondering about health protocols in ski resorts? Mountain professionals have been preparing since September to implement effective health measures that protect both staff and vacationers.
Building on their experience from the summer of 2020, which saw dynamic activity in the mountains, ski resorts, towns, and villages have taken the necessary steps to ensure your safety. You can find all the necessary information on the France Montagne website.
A health protocol adapted for ski resorts
While the nature of skiing inherently requires compliance with health standards and does not require wearing a mask on the slopes, measures have been taken to ensure everyone's safety.
Masks will be mandatory for anyone aged 11 and older in ski lifts, which are considered public transport, as well as in queues and in the heart of certain villages. In addition, the disinfection of spaces and equipment will be stepped up in accommodations, restaurants, shops, and gondolas.
Travelers are encouraged to book their accommodation, lift passes, ski school, and rental equipment in advance to limit queues on-site. These bookings are made easier with flexible cancellation and refund policies. Our partner Skiset offers free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start of your stay.
Finally, as elsewhere, capacity will be adjusted, and hand sanitizer will be widely available.
Innovations in line with health recommendations
Some companies continue to innovate to provide their customers with products that meet their needs while adapting to imposed restrictions.
Three different companies are evolving neck gaiters to offer multifunctional models. To facilitate compliance with health protocols in ski resorts, these neck gaiters combine warmth with FFP2-standard filters.
Some ski resorts have also opted for new pricing models to offer attractive rates during off-peak periods. Dynamic pricing helps to better distribute travelers throughout the winter season.
Other ski areas, such as the N’Py network in the Pyrenees, have implemented a pass that allows you to pay only for the days you ski.
Welkeys' commitment to fighting Covid-19
Since the beginning of the pandemic, our concierge service has been committed to following health guidelines to ensure the safety of our teams and travelers.
During check-in and check-out, contact is limited and safety measures are respected, including the wearing of masks. Keys are handed over in envelopes, and properties are aired out before guests arrive. Guests receive a welcome pack containing hand sanitizer, masks, and an information sheet.
