Beaujolais Nouveau: Where does it come from?

The tradition dates back to the 19th century, when Beaujolais winemakers began selling their wine shortly after the harvest. Indeed, this wine, produced in the vineyards of the Beaujolais region in the Rhône, is put on sale immediately after vinification. Today, Beaujolais Nouveau is synonymous with celebration and conviviality, and we always wait for the third Thursday of November with great anticipation!

‍

All our favorite bars, bistros, and wine shops are delighted to let you taste the new harvest, which is now sold in over 100 countries. To help you better understand this event, we have selected the 5 best Parisian addresses for you to celebrate this wine, enjoy a great meal, and sometimes even meet the producers themselves... Let the party begin!

Where to celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau in Paris?

#1 Music at La Cave des Papilles

Tucked away in the middle of Rue Daguerre, it’s hard to miss the lemon-yellow storefront of La Cave des Papilles. Its owner, a true wine lover, offers over 1,200 labels, the vast majority of which are natural wines. This year, La Cave des Papilles invites you to come and taste the harvests of three Beaujolais producers. To top off the festive atmosphere, come listen to the band The Weather Channel while enjoying charcuterie and cheeses. La Cave des Papilles awaits you at 35 Rue Daguerre, in the 14th arrondissement of Paris.

‍

#2 Mouth-watering treats at Les Artizans

At Les Artizans, you will be welcomed with culinary delights by a chef and a pastry chef. To celebrate the arrival of the famous primeur wine, our two partners are showcasing the Joubert and Jean Foilard estates. As for the food, let yourself be tempted by a continuous menu featuring Basque Country flavors. Bring your guests to Les Artizans at 30 Rue Montorgueil, in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.

‍

#3 A convivial evening at Le Bonvivant

In the heart of the capital, the bistro Le Bonvivant is organizing a "Bon-Jolais" evening. You will be able to meet their guest of honor, Yann Bertrand, who will be presenting his certified organic harvest. Renowned cheeses, charcuterie, and grilled sausages will also be on the menu. Stop by 7 Rue des Écoles in the 5th arrondissement, from 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

‍

#4 All day long at La Cave de Belleville

A gourmet grocery store and wine bar, La Cave de Belleville opens its doors from 10:00 AM for you to taste Beaujolais from both small and large producers. A menu featuring land and sea flavors awaits you to accompany your tasting. And if your guests are a bit tired from their day, a bottle + sandwich combo will be available to go. Stop by for a break at any time of the day at 51 Rue de Belleville, in the 19th arrondissement.

‍

#5 Three days of 100% Beaujolais at La Cave à Jojo

La Cave à Jojo, for its part, isn't offering just one day of festivities, but three! For three days, the owner is offering a 100% Beaujolais menu. Because Beaujolais is meant to be enjoyed endlessly, you'll find the year's primeur at a great price to pair with your meal. Come celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau on November 17, 18, and 19 at 26 Rue des Trois Frères from 7:15 PM to midnight. Your travelers dream of discovering your Paris! So show them this Top 5!
