Last week, we introduced you to one of our new Welkeys Premium destinations: Hossegor. Today, we are continuing our getaway in the southwest of France by taking you to Capbreton, a neighboring seaside resort that is sure to win you over just as much!

‍

Capbreton: a setting that breathes vacation

Facing the town of Hossegor, Capbreton is a seaside resort located in the Landes region that deserves to be better known. As the only marina in the department with direct access to the ocean, it is also a very active fishing port. Yes, the town truly seems to live to the rhythm of the Atlantic! However, the proximity of the waves is not Capbreton's only asset. Once there, you can also easily visit the sublime Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park. And, just a few minutes' drive from the town center, you will find the Marais d'Orx National Nature Reserve. An ideal place if you enjoy birdwatching!

‍

As for beaches, Capbreton is not to be outdone, with no fewer than 7: Notre Dame, L’Estacade, La Centrale, Le Prévent, Santocha (also known as “La Savane”), La Piste, and the Plage des Océanides. In total, these represent 3.5 miles dedicated to swimming, lounging, and board sports! A change of scenery is guaranteed. Furthermore, on the beaches of La Piste and Santocha, history buffs can discover bunkers dating back to World War II. We also recommend a stroll on the large wooden pier of L’Estacade, especially when the colors of the late afternoon warm up the sky.

‍

‍

Quads, go-karting, mini-golf, horseback riding... As a place very conducive to vacations, Capbreton offers a wide range of outings and activities. Due to its close relationship with traditional fishing, fishing tourism plays a particularly important role here. Sea excursions, jet ski rides, paddleboarding, and even towable tube rides are also very popular!

‍

Calling all cycling enthusiasts; numerous bike paths and greenways crisscross the town. As for hikers, we recommend the dune trail for about 2 miles of walking between land and sea. Food lovers will be delighted by the daily markets offering local flavors and specialties in the center of Capbreton.

‍

Come and spend a pleasant stay in Capbreton!

Events in Capbreton

As you may have already noticed in our article on Hossegor, the Atlantic coast offers various events for its residents and tourists.

‍

Every June, Capbreton celebrates the Sea Festival. With family activities, concerts, and sea excursions, the event perfectly sets the stage for a successful stay by the ocean. From August 18 to 21, the "Août of Jazz" festival will be back this year to make the town dance. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy live music outdoors! Finally, for surf enthusiasts, numerous competitions are organized throughout the year.
