Following La Clusaz, Les Arcs, and Les 2 Alpes, your Airbnb concierge service, Welkeys, continues to expand its reach by arriving in a legendary new French resort: Chamonix. Today, we’re giving you a closer look at this destination that remains incredibly popular this time of year. Welcome to the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley!
Chamonix: A sought-after destination
Labeled a “Mont-Blanc Natural Resort,” the famous town known as “Cham” offers not one, but four ski areas. First, there are the Grands Montets, where you’ll find the greatest vertical drops in the valley, with the summit reaching 3,275 meters. It’s the perfect spot for freestyle enthusiasts and thrill-seekers! Then, there’s the Balme area. This is where beginner and intermediate skiers will feel most at home, as will off-piste fans. Next, there’s the Brévent and La Flégère area, which are linked by a cable car to form a single domain. There, you can enjoy the slopes while facing the majestic Mont-Blanc range. Finally, your last playground is none other than the Chamonix Nordic ski area, a delight for cross-country skiing fans. In total, 119 slopes await you! And, unlike most French resorts, the season doesn’t end in April, but on May 3rd.
Located at the foot of Mont-Blanc, Chamonix is easily accessible, whether you’re coming from Switzerland, France, or Italy! Trains run regularly from Paris, Lyon, Annecy, Bellegarde, Geneva, and Martigny. As for airports, the closest are in Geneva, Lyon, and Milan. Since the valley is served by an expressway, you won’t have any trouble reaching your Airbnb by car either.
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is also home to exceptional sites like the Mer de Glace ice cave and the Aiguille du Midi with its summit terrace. It offers a wide variety of sports and leisure activities to enjoy with family or friends. Mountaineering, paragliding, hockey, ice skating, hiking, or even dog sledding: everything is here to satisfy every vacationer who comes to enjoy the Chamonix scenery and the invigorating mountain air. The town of Chamonix itself is also very lively, thanks to its many friendly gathering spots. Shopping, cinema, a casino, spas, cultural tours, and both traditional and Michelin-starred restaurants… Once again, there is something for everyone!
Chamonix: A place rich in events
Through Sunday, January 5th, the town of Chamonix is extending the holiday magic by offering travelers beautiful Christmas craft exhibitions. To warm up, complimentary mulled wine is served daily from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
As for sports, you won’t be left out when staying in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley. In early February, you can come and admire the feats of top athletes during the Kandahar Alpine Ski World Cup. A high-level competition featuring two events: the Slalom and the Parallel Giant Slalom. Tickets are available to cheer on the world’s best skiers from the stands! And if you prefer summer over winter, you’ll likely be more interested in the Mont-Blanc Marathon. A dozen races are offered for the most daring among you! Then, in July, the Climbing World Cup will take place in Chamonix.

Once the ski season is over, the resort also hosts two festivals that will delight curious visitors and music lovers alike: the Magic Mont-Blanc Festival, headlined by Eric Antoine, and the Cosmojazz Festival, where free concerts are held in the idyllic setting of Chamonix!
