It’s official: the 100-kilometer travel limit has been lifted. This gives you much more freedom to plan your upcoming vacations and weekends! However, the list of foreign countries that will accept French tourists this summer remains purely speculative for now. Whether you want to support domestic tourism or simply discover the treasures of France, check out this new selection of destinations to visit without leaving our beautiful country, curated by your Airbnb concierge Welkeys. #ExploreFranceThisSummer!
Arpenaz Waterfall, in Sallanches
A protected natural site located in Haute-Savoie, the Arpenaz Waterfall is both an impressive and peaceful spot. Missing the mountain air? Come and admire this 270-meter-high waterfall. The area has been developed, making it an ideal location for picnics and a starting point for several popular hikes between the mountains and the forest. Less than 2 kilometers away, you can then enjoy the pleasant Ilettes leisure center. Facing the Mont-Blanc massif, a wide range of activities is available: fishing, windsurfing, swimming... Who said the mountains were only for winter vacations?
Belle-Île-en-Mer, the jewel of Morbihan
Accessible year-round from Quiberon, Belle-Île-en-Mer is the third-largest island off the coast of metropolitan France. It is home to the communes of Locmaria, Le Palais, Bangor, and Sauzon. Very lively in summer, the port of Sauzon is particularly worth a visit, as are the Pointe des Poulains and the Donnant Beach. In fact, Sauzon is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Good to know: the island’s sunshine levels are equivalent to those of Toulouse. So much for the skeptics!
With a thalassotherapy center, renowned restaurants, surfing, golf, and art galleries, Belle-Île-en-Mer offers the infrastructure and activities to provide the best for tourists all year round!

Château de Bionnay and its gardens, 40 minutes from Lyon
Spanning no less than 5 hectares, the park of the Château de Bionnay features a magnificent French-style garden as well as several themed gardens, including a rose garden and an Italian garden. A protected site, the castle park allows you to admire hundreds of flower species and centuries-old trees. Whether you choose a self-guided or guided tour, the choice is yours! Please note, however, that the gardens are only open to the public from May 1st to June 30th. It’s time to plan your visit. Admission is free for children under 12.

The Sormiou Calanque, in Marseille
Highly popular with both locals and tourists, the Sormiou Calanque has been part of the Calanques National Park since 2012 and continues to captivate visitors year after year. The water is clear, the sand is white, and the entire landscape is heavenly. The spot is highly sought after, especially by hiking, climbing, and fishing enthusiasts. Furthermore, unlike the vast majority of calanques, Sormiou has a designated supervised swimming area during the summer. However, the parking lot at the bottom of the calanque is not accessible during the summer season.
