All of our City Managers are from hospitality school or are trained in the hospitality to allow your guests to enjoy a personalized and reserved welcome on the Île de Ré.
The Île de Ré is located off the French Atlantic coast. There is a bridge between the land and the island which links La Rochelle and the Île de Ré. It is also possible to go from on to the other by sea.
All around the year, you can stay in one of the 10 villages on the island. With their alleys and typical white houses with green or blue shutters, they are ideal if you need a change of scenery.
In July 2021, it was the first island to receive the certification label “Pays d’Art et d’Histoire”. It means that the development project of the island is based on culture, heritage and living environment. Indeed, visiting the Île de Ré means adopting the “rétais” (of the Île de Ré) way of life.
Living as a “rétais” means using a bike. Biking allows the tourists to discover another side of the islands: sand dunes, forests, vineyards… Within a few minutes, you will find yourself on a beach. Each season has its activities : sunbathing, admiring sunsets, shore fishing...
However the 100-kilometer long coastline is not only made up of beaches. Do not forget to admire the salt marshes and the natural reserve Lilleau des Niges in the village of Les Portes-en-Ré. It is a stop for many migratory birds.
During your stroll, do not forget to stop by a farmers’ market or sit outside a restaurant to taste local produce. From the earth, you can try local potatoes and wines (pineaux and cognac). From the ocean, enjoy some salt, pickleweed and oysters. Those always taste better in the cabin of an oyster farmer!
If you like historical buildings, you will like the island too. Each village has its own characteristics and there are stone fish locks all over the island as well as military and religious buildings and lighthouses. The most emblematic village is Saint-Martin-de-Ré with fortification built by Vauban.
There are short term rentals in every one of the 10 villages. There are no less than 1980 short term rentals overall. The average price per night is 160 euros. The occupancy rate can vary a lot, from an average of 39% up to 90% during summer, mainly during July and August.
However these numbers also vary according to the village and where it is situated on the island. For example, the village of Loix has the highest price per night. From an average of 200 euros, they can reach up to 254 euros in November and the do not go lower than 142 euros in March.
The occupancy rate in Rivedoux-Plage and La Flotte are the highest: respectively 48 and 50% in average, they reach up to 90 and 92% in August and do not go below 15 and 19% in January. On the contrary, in Les-Portes-En-Ré the occupancy rate can go below 7% during the month of February even if it is the city where there are the most rentals of 7 days and more.
Saint-Martin-de-Ré is rather different from the other villages of the island. Short term rentals consist of smaller accommodations such as studio or one-roomed apartments. In other villages the rentals tend to be bigger with at least two or three bedrooms. The biggest rentals are often located in Les Portes-En-Ré where you can find accommodations with more than 5 bedrooms.
